One of the things I like about IBM Rational Rhapsody is that although it depends on Java, it allows me to pre-install a JDK of my choice, within reason, and then select that during installation.
If there's a security update to Java, and as one of the biggest attack surfaces on our network we like to keep Java up-to-date, I can download the latest JDK, install it in parallel with the old JDK, reconfigure Rhapsody to point to the new JDK and regression test it.
Once I'm happy I can install the new JDK for everyone, reconfigure Rhapsody to use the new JDK, and delete the older less secure JDK.
Here comes the question: Does anyone know if it is possible to configure DOORS to use a version of the JRE that is already installed on the desktop rather than using the Java 1.5 JRE that is installed by DOORS?
Yes, I know that the version of Java installed by DOORS is not the version used by my web-browser, but apart from anything else I hate having multiple versions of the same software installed on a PC except for the purpose of compatibility and regression testing.
